WHAT IS PITAYA?
Pitaya, also known as Dragon Fruit, is a superfruit indigenous to Central and South America that is now grown all over the world.
WAIT! DRAGON FRUIT IS THE SAME?
Yes! Pitaya was first discovered in Central America, centuries ago, and has traveled to all corners of the globe. Early missionaries brought Pitaya to Asia where it has since been renamed and is more commonly known as, Dragon Fruit.
Pitaya, or Dragon Fruit, has a faint, sweet taste much like an earthy watermelon. All of its seeds give it the consistency of a kiwi . It's delicious in smoothies and smoothie bowls.
It's a great source on Magnesium, Iron, Vit. B2 and C, Fiber, and Antioxidants.
◦ 1 Kale Leaf
◦ 1/3 of Frozen Banana
◦ Handful of Spinach Leaves
◦ 1/2 tsp of Ginger
◦ 6 oz of water, almond milk or coconut water
◦ 1 squeezed Lemon
Combine all ingredients into a blender Blend on medium to high for
30 seconds Pour into a glass and enjoy:)
*TIP: Try a delicious smoothie bowl instead of a smoothie! Just add 1-2oz of liquid instead of the full 6oz. Top with your favorite topping such as coconut, nuts, low sugar granola, drizzled nut butter, or goji berries!
